BOTOX & Fillers 2006: Vancouver Symposium

A Carruthers, J Carruthers,
270 minutes, 2 Disc set, 2006.

A message from Dr. Jean Carruthers regarding the topics discussed and techniques demonstrated at the 2006 Vancouver Symposium - BOTOX and Fillers.

We are pleased to offer to our viewers insight into the latest twists and turns in the cosmetic use of the Neurotoxins and Fillers. Currently in North America BOTOX is the gold standard neurotoxin. It has wonderful records of effectiveness and safety over time. Newer neurotoxins are being studied with the view of FDA approval over the next few years. Likely first to join BOTOX will be Reloxin, also a Type A neurotoxin as are Purtox from Mentor and Xeomin from Merz.

The exciting Filler Renaissance has made the old world of "Collagen-Alone" a thing of the past. Recent approvals of a new, more highly crosslinked porcine collagen called Evolence extends collagen use to 9-12 months from 3-4 months. Higher density hyaluronans such as Sub-Q volumize especially when injected into deeper tissue planes in the face.

Newer hyaluronans such as Juvederm offer a softer gel formulation aimed at the huge market share of the gold standard Hyaluronan Restylane and its other derivatives such as Perlane.

Other new filler technologies that work not just by volumizing but also by stimulating new collagen formation within the injected individual include Radiesse with 30-40 micron calcium beads, ArteFill with 30-40 micron PMMA beads, and Sculptra with Polylactic acid particles.

All these fillers have differing properties, are appropriate in different parts of the face and may or may not be safe into lips.

To be safe is to be current - not only in the understanding of the properties of each injectable but also in the techniques used. It is our belief that our patients will be safely treated only when these hurdles are embraced by each injector.

This DVD is an important part of the ongoing physician education and review.

Non-returnable.
