| STD COMPRESSION PADS
STD pads carried by Delasco are imported from England, and are the same pads often desribed in the literature as STD pads. They are made of foam material, in an elongated flat topped pyramidal design. Three sizes are available, a square based, and two elongated sizes (4 cm x 13 cm x 1.75 cm H), and 5 cm x 13 cm x 2.5 cm H). Delasco as this time only offers the elongated sizes. The square size can be obtained on special order, in minimums of 50. Please allow up to six weeks. They may be used as a bolster, under a elastic dressing to help provide hemostatic pressure after a procedure, but they are primarily advised to use in conjunction with sclerotherapy. After injection, the pad laid over the course of the vein in the treated area, perhaps underlaid with a gauze sponge, and then overwrapped with an elastic wrap. Convatec makes an adhesive elastic wrap, (Duoderm) which is quite efficient at holding the pad(s) in place. We have no experience in reusing the pads, but if you make a charge to the patient for each pad, and they require multiple treatments, they may be motivated in washing the pads, to return for the repeat treatments. We do not recommend reuse for any person other than the orginal treatment. If the pads survive washing, they may save the patient (and you) a little.
