| INSTRUCTIONS FOR CARE AND USE OF THERMOCOUPLE NEEDLES
UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES ATTEMPT TO DETACH THE NEEDLE, NEEDLE CANNULA, OR ANY WIRES FROM EITHER END OF THE ENTIRE THERMOCOUPLE ASSEMBLY.
We have available two different styles of thermocouple needles. The difference between them lies only in the method of sterilization used and the thermocouple needle wiring is color-coded for that purpose.
If your needles have blue and red wire, they are NON-AUTOCLAVABLE and should be sterilized by any acceptable bactericidal agent (cold sterilization) or with gas sterilization (ethylene oxide).
If your needles have brown wire, they may be AUTOCLAVED with no problem.
Only the last millimeter of the needle cannula is where the actual temperature recording takes place. Therefore, the needles themselves should be inserted through at least 1/2 inch of tissue from where the point of recording is desired. This will eliminate the possibility of conduction error travelling down the needle cannula to the tip.
Should the needle points become burred, they may be sharpened carefully at the tip only. The sharpening cannot be carried back beyond the bevel of the needle.
Should a needle cannula become bent and the monitor still indicates the needle is functioning, do not attempt to straighten the needle. Utilize it as a bent thermocouple needle.
With reasonable care, there is no limit to the number of temperature recordings that may be made with these thermocouple needles.
The TISSUE TEMPERATURE MONITOR requires no batteries or maintenance. It is powered entirely by current flow initiated by temperature change.
