| Diagnostic \ Venoscope® II | Venoscope II Instructions
| | The Venoscope II is used by placing the device on the surface of the skin so that the light is directed down into the subcutaneous tissue. This is accomplished by dimming the ambient lighting as much as possible so as to provide the contrast needed to see the vein. As the light is moved longitudinally about the patient's extremities, the doctor will be looking for a dark line presenting between the dual arms. Once a dark line is detected, pressing down on both arms will blanche the vein and releasing pressure will allow blood to flow again. This action verifies a soft patent vein. The doctor can also determine the direction of travel of the vein and note any bifurcation that needs to be avoided. The doctor can then mark the vein with a marking pin or some other method to present a target for the insertion of the catheter.
