| Laboratory \ Mycobiotic Agar | Mycobiotic Agar Information
| Mycobiological media is prepared with Peptone, Dextrose, and Agar. Also contains cyclohexamide and chloramphemicol. PH is 6.9 +/- .2 at 25 degrees C.
It is packed in 1 oz wide mouth glass bottle, with the media on a slant. The antibiotics suppress bacterial growth, and some unwanted saprophytes. Species identification is made by a combination of gross colony and microscopic identification. Supplied with identification labels, for patient name, date, and location.
CLIA: Clia requirements for quality control are met in the manufacturing process, and a statement for the manufacturing quality control for the lot is stated on the package insert.
Storage: Room temperature Incubation: Room temperature, with a loose cap Time of incubation: Up to 21 days Autoclaving is recommended before discarding.
Directions: Sample (skin scrapings, hair or nail clippings) are dropped onto the media. Using a sterile blade or instrument to force the specimens slightly into the media usually provides better results.
