| Lighting \ CoolSpot II | Operating & Maintenance Instructions
| The CoolSpot II Procedure Light with the Burton Flexible Arm has been designed to be used with the Burton FlexiMount mounting systems. The CoolSpot II Light is provided as a Head and Arm assembly which is authorized for use only with Burton FlexiMount ceiling mounts, wall mounts, or floor stands. Any other use will void the warranty and may cause a safety hazard.
Installation
1. Installation instructions are provided with the mounting system. Power requirements for each CoolSpot Head and Arm is 115 volts, 60 hertz, 150 watts, 1.50 amps. Save the shipping carton and inserts in case it is necassary to return the Light for servicing.
Operation
1. FOCUS CONTROL - The lamp / lens system is pre-focused at the factory and the lens is locked in place by a set-screw. To re-focus, it is necessary to loosen the set-screw first. Under normal conditions of use, it should not be necessary to reset the lens.
2. APERTURE CONTROL - Located underneath the Light head. There are two wheels located in this area; the wide, fully-ribbed wheel is the aperture control. This control allows the user to choose 4 different diameter illuminated fields.
3. INTENSITY CONTROL - Located next to aperture control. This control wheel is narrow and has bumps to indicate the degree of intensity: from 1 bump (minimum intensity) to 4 bumps (full intensity). Both control wheels may be rotated independently and in either direction. Note: the third bump has a blue filter for color correction. Use of this filter will, however, decrease light intensity by approximately half.
4. When the yoke intensity switch is set on "high", bulb life will decrease by approximately 65%. To maximize bulb life, it is recommended that the switch be set on "low" before the light is to be turned ON.
Precautions- DO NOT ATTEMPT TO RE-FOCUS THE LIGHT BY TWISTING THE LENS. THE LENS ASSEMBLY CAN LOOSEN AND EVENTUALLY FALL OUT.
- TO AVOID BULB AND MOTOR DAMAGE, DO NOT SPILL LIQUIDS INTO THE LIGHT HEAD.
- TO AVOID PHYSICAL HARM, DO NOT OPEN THE LIGHT HEAD WITH THE UNIT ON.
- TO AVOID OVERHEATING, DO NOT OPERATE THE LIGHT IF THE FAN IS NOT OPERATING (Check by feeling warm air exiting rear of Light head) AND DO NOT COVER ANY OF THE GRILLS IN THE LIGHT HEAD.
STERILIZATION HANDLE - The handle may be sterilized with steam or chemicals and re-attached to the CoolSpot without touching the light head.
Maintenance
The only routine maintenance required should be bulb and replacement cleaining. The average bulb should have a life of 200 hours, but manufacturing and operating differences will cause individual bulb life to vary between 70 and 800 hours typically.
1. OPENING THE LIGHT HEAD - Before attempting any maintenance inside the Light head, always be sure to allow the Light to cool. If the Light has been operating for 10 minutes or more, allow at least 30 minutes for cooling. Locate the slotted screw head near the top-front of the head. Using a scredricer or coin, turn this screw 1/4 turn to unlock the top back cover. Lift the top cover open (tilt the head to allow the cover to open fully past the yoke.)
Close the top cover and lock by turning the locking screw until it engages the Light head.
2. BULB REPLACEMENT - Open the Light head as described above. Then lift the bulb straight up (it is held by two spring wires) and unplug the white ceramic socket from the bulb.
_______________________________________________________
CAUTION: USE ONLY HALOGEN BULBS, TYPE EKE (150 WATT, 21 VOLT), FOR REPLACEMENT. USE OF A HIGHER WATTAGE AND/OR LOWER VOLTAGE BULB MAY CAUSE A FIRE HAZARD.
CAUTION: When handling a new bulb, be careful not to touch the inside surfaces - body oils on these surfaces will decrease bulb life.
_______________________________________________________
Install a new bulb by aligning the bulb pins with the two small holes in the socket and then pushing the socket toward the bulb. It may help to wiggle the socket slightly while pushing. Slide the bulb fully down into the holder bracket under the spring wires.
3. CLEANING - Every 100 hours of typical use, open the Light head as described above and blow out the loose dust. Use a damp cloth or swab to clean out remaining dirt, especially in the grill areas. Clean the lenses and the exterior of the Light with a mild detergent or alcohol solution.
Troubleshooting
1. NO LIGHT OUTPUT, BUT FAN WORKS - First try changing the bulb with a known good bulb or a new bulb. If the bulb does not work, then replace the socket.
2. NO LIGHT OUTPUT, FAN DOES NOT WORK - First, check the primary fuse located at the mounting system, then check your circuit breaker or fuse for the Light circuit.
3. LIGHT WORKS, FAN DOES NOT WORK - Turn power off and check that the fan blade moves freely when turned by hand; if jammed, bend the blades to free them. If the fan still does not work, check the wiring; the motor may need replacement.
L = Lamp Tungsten Halogen Type EKE Rated 150 Watt at 21 Volts M = Fan Motor 19 Volts, 25 Watt Shaded-Pole, Impedance-Protected
4. ARM FRICTION ADJUSTMENT - Use the black knob to adjust arm friction; turn knob clockwise to increase drag, and counterclockwise to release drag.
5. ARM MOVES UP OR DOWN 1" OR MORE AFTER POSITION SET - Rotate head and yoke fully counterclockwise to access the spring tension screw. Insert a 3/16" allen wrench into the hole at the end of the arm near the Light head yoke. Push and twist the wrench until it seats in the hexagonal socket in the sring tension screw. If the arm does not hold in the highest position, tighten the screw - several clockwise turns should be sufficient. If the arm moves up from the lowest position, loosen the screw (counterclockwise).
6. ARM DRIFTS LEFT OR RIGHT - Check that installation is level. Tighten friction screw at elbow joint (end of extension arm).
All other problems will probably involve repair through your dealer or Burton.
When shipping parts for repair, pack securely to avoid damage in transit. It is preferable to use the original package if available.
