| Lighting \ Outpatient II | Operating & Maintenance Instructions
| The Outpatient II Procedure Light with the Burton Flexible Arm has been designed to be used with the Burton FlexiMount mounting systems. The Outpatient II Light is provided as a Head and Arm assembly which is authorized for use only with Burton FlexiMount ceiling mounts, wall mounts, or floor stands. Any other use will void the warranty and may cause a safety hazard.
Installation
1. Installation instructions are provided with the mounting system. Power requirement for each Outpatient Head and Arm is 115 volts, 60 hertz, 150 watts, 1.50 amps. Save the shipping carton and inserts in case it is necessary to return the Light for servicing.
Operation
1. HANDLE STERILIZATION - The front handle may be removed for cleaning and sterilization (ETO or steam). Push in the locking rod to release handle. A disposable handle cover is an available option.
To reinstall sterilized handle, locate the machined flat surface facing the locking rod and push it in until it bottoms out. Twist the handle till it snaps (~1/4 turn).
Precaustions- DO NOT SPILL LIQUIDS ONTO THE LIGHT HEAD.
- DO NOT OPEN THE LIGHT HEAD WHILE THE UNIT IS ON.
- DO NOT OPERATE THE LIGHT FOR EXTENDED PERIODS WITH A BULB BURNED OUT.
Maintenance
The only routine maintenance will be replacement of bulbs and cleaning of the Light. The average bulb should have a life of 2000 hours. When one of the three bulbs burns out, the other two will remain on, but they will operate at a higher voltage. Therefore, it is important to replace bulbs shortly after they burn out to avoid overstressing the remaining good bulbs.
1. OPENING THE LIGHT HEAD - Before doing any maintenance inside the Light head, allow bulbs to cool. If the Light has been operating for 10 minutes or more, allow 30 minutes for cooling.
The back cover is attached to the housing with three screws. Remove the back cover by unscrewing the cover from the housing.
2. BULB REPLACEMENT PROCEDURE - Open the Light head as described above. Unplug the white ceramic socket from the bulb by pulling and wiggling it at the same time. Slidethe bulb straight out (it is only held by two spring wires at this point.)
_______________________________________________________
CAUTION: USE ONLY GLASS COVERED HALOGEN BULBS, TYPE FTY CG (50 WATT, 12.0 VOLT), FOR REPLACEMENT. USE OF HIGHER WATTAGE AND/OR LOWER VOLTAGE BULB MAY CAUSE A FIRE HAZARD.
CAUTION: When handling the new bulb, be careful not to touch the front surfaces - body oils on these surfaces will decrease bulb life.
_______________________________________________________
Install the new bulb by sliding it into the lampholder. Connect the socket to the bulb by aligning the bulb pins with the two small holes in the socket, then push the socket and bulb together. It may help to wiggle the socket slightly while pushing. Reinstall the back cover with the three screws.
3. CLEANING - The exterior surfaces of the Light may be cleaned with a mild detergent or alcohol solution. Open the Light head as described above. Blow and wipe out any dust and dirt accumulation.
TROUBLESHOOTING
1. ALL 3 BULBS DO NOT LIGHT - First check the primary fuse located at the mounting system, then check your circuit breaker or fuse for the Light circuit. Have an electrician check all wiring connections.
L = Lamp Tungsten Halogen Type FTYCG Rated 50 Watts at 12.0 V 2. ALL 3 BULBS ARE DIM - Have a qualified electrician check all wiring.
3. ARM MOVES UP OR DOWN 1" OR MORE AFTER POSITION SET - Rotate head and yoke fully counterclockwise to access the spring tension screw. Insert the 3/16" allen wrench into the hole at the end of the arm near the Light Head yoke. Push and twist the wrench until it seats in the hexagonal socket in the spring tension screw. If the arm does not hold in the highest position, tighten the screw - several clockwise turns should be sufficient. If the arm moves up from the lowest position, loosen the screw (counter-clockwise).
4. ARM FRICTION ADJUSTMENT - Use the black knob to adjust arm friction; turn knob clockwise to increase drag, and counterclockwise to release drag.
5. ARM DRIFTS LEFT OR RIGHT - Check that installation is level.
All other problems probably will involve repair through your dealer or Burton.
When shipping the Head and Arm, pack securely to avoid damage in transit. It is preferable to use the original package if available.
