Blenoxane® Bleomycin
BlenoxaneŽ (bleomycin sulfate for injection, USP) is a mixture of cytotoix glycopeptide antibiotics isolated from a strain of Streptomyces verticillus.
Bleomycin comes in powder that must be reconstituted. Reconstituion may be made with normal saline or purified water. There are 15 units per vial and usually diluted with 15 ml of diluent, providing 1 unit per ml.
The sterile powder is stable under refrigeration 2° C (36°F) to 8° C (46°F) and should not be used after the expiration date is reached. Blenoxane is stable for 24 hours at room temperature in sodium chloride.
