Bleomycin Comments/Information
| Bleomycin comes in powder that must be reconstitued. Reconstitution may be made normal saline or purified water. There is 15 units per vial and is usually diluted with 15 ml of diluent, provided 1 unit per ml.
Blenoxane® (bleomycin sulfate for injection, USP) was initially marketed for room temperature storage and had an approved shelf life of 18 months. However, by recommending refrigeration of the unreconstituted drug, the Blenoxane shelf life has been extended to 36 months.
Blenoxane is chemically stable when stored at 45°C (113°F) for one month and, therefore, need not be refrigerated during the brief shipping period. In addition, Blenoxane may be kept at room temperature (15-30°) for up to 28 days and then refrigerated without any change in the shelf life of the drug.
Intralesional injection may be best accomplished with:
