| Kenalog (Triamcinolone Acetonide) Injection
TRIAMCINOLONE PRODUCTS ARE DESTROYED BY FREEZING.
Our economical shipping charge is via UPS ground. UPS ground is unheated
trucks, and freezing is likely between Nov 15 and March 15.
We will ship triamcinolone products only by extra cost 2nd day air
UPS service during this time period. However, it is economical.
Two strengths available: 40 mg/ml and 10 mg/ml
Both strengths are labeled for IM use only, not for IV or intra-
lesional use. These are so labeled, because intralesional use causes
atrophy. This atrophy inducing effect is often used to treat keloids,
but this is not an FDA approved indication, so that the product may
not labeled for that purpose. And it must be diluted for regular intra-
lesional use.
40 mg Kenalog may be diluted to 2.5 mg/ per ml by adding 2 ml (80 mg)
to 30 ml of sterile normal saline, providing 32 ml of mixture.
3.75 mg/ml strength may be made by removing one ml from a 30 ml
vial of normal saline, and adding 3 ml of 40 mg/ml Kenalog.
5 mg/ml is made by removing and discarding 2 ml from a 30 ml vial of
normal saline, and adding 4 ml of 40 mg/ml Kenalog.
7.5 mg/ml is made by removing and discarding 4 ml from a 30 ml vial
normal saline, and adding 6 ml (240 mg) of 40 mg/ml Kenalog.
Cost is reduced if Kenalog purchased in 10's and saline in
packs of 25.
Delasco has labels available, that one can use over the normal
saline label after mixing as above. The label has a blank for
the strength made to be filled in, as well as the date mixed, and
the initials of the mixer.
Delasco also has normal saline, sterile, available in 30 ml vials.
Expiration dates are variable, but for the most part have at least
12 months dating, and often near 24 months.
