SB Mallory, ED Gutierrez,
200 cards, 2003.- Provides flash-card instruction of the clinical dermatologic findings associated with specific syndromes
- Helps dermatology residents practice for board exams
- Presents syndromes by disorders category for better memorization
This is a flash-card compendium of the pertinent points about dermatologic syndromes and associations, designed as a study guide for dermatology residents as they prepare for specialty board examinations. Syndrome means findings that run together and most syndromes consist of one or more major anomalies together with a variable number of minor abnormalities.
Students must learn to recognize the patterns, which are more important than the individual parts. These flash cards incorporate lists that help students learn clinical dermatologic findings with associated syndromes, in turn learning what syndromes have features of common skin diseases. For example, severe cystic acne can be seen in Apert Syndrome, or Donahue syndrome may be associated with acanthosis nigricans. Such patients have been reported with these findings, which may lead a physician to the correct diagnosis.
The Dermatologic Syndromes Card Deck presents the syndromes by disorder category, in succinct list-like fashion to facilitate memorization. The deck also groups the different entities according to the primary lesion and/or a common clinical denominator.
