| Facial Danger Zones: Avoiding Nerve Injury in Facial Plastic Surgery Brooke Seckel, MD St. Louis, 1994 Quality Medical Publishing 52 pages
This book was written to bring to the attention of a wide audience the anatomic locations of the most susceptible nerve regions of the face. With the advent of "deep-plane" surgical techniques for the rejuvenation of the aging face, this reviewer agrees with the author that there will be increasing numbers of nerve injuries as more junior surgeons perform these advanced procedures. I enjoyed the beautiful illustrations, concise anatomic descriptions, general information, and the high quality of the publication itself. However, the information contained in this book is part of the basic training of any person doing facial surgery. I question the need for a separate book to detail information contained in numerous publications. I believe the author's goal of disseminating this information in one source would be better served in the form of a shorter, less expensive monograph or supplement to a journal. With the plethora of books available, I believe one needs to be particularly selective. As such, there are more cost-effective ways of obtaining the information detailed in Dr. Seckel's tome.
