Modern dermabrasion techniques involve intensive patient orientation, a combination of local nerve block and intravenous anesthesia and dermabrading with a mushroom and pear extra coarse diamond fraise without freezing the skin except in selected areas.
Full facial sanding is achieved by several passes of the diamond fraise. Deep, punched out scars are excised and sutured during the procedure. Wound healing is accomplished by the use of a hydrogel dressing.
