Sklar-Cide²⁸ HLD is an activated 3% concentration gluteraldeyde liquid chemical sterilant and high-level disinfectant. It provides an efficient and safe means for the high-level disinfection or sterilization of medical, ophthalmic, dental and surgical devices including endoscopes and lensed instruments.

It may be used as a standard soak solution or in automatic processing units set at room temperature. Unlike other solutions, there is no need to increase the solution temperature to provide high-level disinfection in 25 minutes.

As with all liquid sterilants, this product should be used for instruments and devices that are heat labile or otherwise incompatible with other methods of biologically monitored sterilization.

It produces high-level disinfection at room temperature in as little as 25 minutes and complete sterilization in 10 hours. Safe for use on medical and surgical devices including lensed instruments.

Sklar-Cide must be mixed with an activator powder before use. Each gallon bottle comes with one bottle of activator powder. Open the gallon, pour the Sklar-Cide and the complete contents of the activator powder into a pan. Once the activator is added, the solution turns green in color to indicate its readiness for use. In addition to the active ingredient, this ready-to-use solution contains buffers, wetting agents, and a rust and corrosion inhibitor and it has a pleasant fragrance.

The mixture is good for 28 days; however mixed Sklar-Cide solution must be tested every day for effectiveness with the Sklar-Cide²⁸ HDL test strips.

These test strips are used to test the mixed Sklar-Cide²⁸ HLD solution once a day to make sure it is still active. Dip the test strip in the solution, match the color of the test strip to the guide on the test strip bottle to make sure the solution is still active.
