Cica-Care

Scarring is a significant problem following the healing of major wounds and burns and even small wounds on highly visible areas like the face, can cause distress to people. Cica-Care has been designed for temporary use in the management of both existing and new hypertrophic and keloid scars (raised and red coloured). Also temporary use is effective as a proplylactic therapy on closed wounds to prevent hypertropic and keloid scarring.

Cica-Care is widely used by medical professionals and is indicated for use on hypertrophic and keloid scars. Cica-Care is a flexible, adhesive, semi-occlusive silicone gel sheet. It employs the proven benefits of silicone gel sheets in reducing raised scars and reducing the redness of the scar so it fades and becomes less noticeable.

Additional advantages of self-adhesiveness and durability mean that application is simple and the gel sheet can be washed and used several times. The result is improved outcomes in scar management through cost-effectiveness and patient self-treatment/rehabilitation.

A patented silicone membrane that covers the top of the dressing ensures the self-adhesive is on the bottom side only, where the patient needs it. Won't stick to clothing and is easy to manage.

Cica-Care works over a period of time and this can vary from person to person and from scar to scar, however the majority improve. Some people may see an improvement in a matter of days. When used correctly, best results are seen after 2-4 months treatment.

After gradually increasing the wear time, it should be worn for a minimum of 12 hours per day, for example at night. 24 hour wear time is most preferable. Can be easily washed daily in a mild, non-oily soap solution, rinsed in warm water and re-used. Once it becomes difficult to clean or breaks up, a new piece should be used. Average replacement time is 7-10 days.
