DemeTECH's Polyglactin 910 (G) suture is a sterile, synthetic, braided, coated and absorbable surgical suture consisting of copolymers made from 90% glycolide and 10% L-lactide. Its chemical formula is (C2H2O2) m (C3H4O2) n. Suture is coated with a mixture of Poly(glycolide-co-lactide) and calcium stearate. Studies indicate that, after two weeks, about 75% of its initial strength is retained, while at four weeks, approximately 25% of its linear tensile strength remains. Furthermore, DemeTECH's Polyglactin 910 has been found to be non-antigenic, causing only mild tissue reactivity during the absorption process.
Characteristics of DemeTECH’s Polyglactin 910 Sutures
